Gaming Classics

The release of the first video games was a major milestone in the history of technology. When people first saw these games they could not believe their eyes. They were so mesmerized that they sat at their desk or table for hours just watching them.

And these games have had a deep impact ever since. They have changed generations and helped them evolve as humans. The first video games were very simple compared to today’s games but they helped children learn new things such as addition and subtraction, which is something many kids of today still learn through video games.

Today we have many different types of video games including sports, action, adventure, racing and many more! Each type has its own different set of rules and features, so it can be hard to choose which one you want to play. However, there have been certain titles which have been commonly liked, which have gained more popularity, and have gone on to have a deeper impact on almost all members of the present generation of gamers (i.e. our generation, which includes the Millennial Generation and Gen-Z).

Here are some of the top games that have forever changed and become a part of the culture of the present / our generation:

Candy Crush

Candy Crush Saga is a puzzle game of strategy and skill. It was developed by the game publisher King (also King.com), who released it in 2012. The app has been downloaded more than 2 billion times and has been available on many different platforms, including iOS and Android devices; Kindle Fire tablets; web platforms as well as other mobile platforms like BlackBerry 10 OS and Windows Phone 8 OS (Microsoft).

It’s one of the most popular mobile games ever made—and still remains very popular even after being out for 10 years!

Subway Surfers

Subway Surfers is an endless runner game in which you have to keep running on subway tracks. You have to dodge trains, barriers and other obstacles, while your character keeps running from a police inspector who is chasing them. The game was created by Danish companies Kiloo and SYBO Games, and was released in 2012 for iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices. It was also released on Kindle Fire tablets as well as Apple TV devices.

The game has well over 2 billion downloads todayand still remains very popular among a diverse set of players today—10 years after its original release!

Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans is a mobile strategy game released in 2012. It is one of the highest grossing games ever, with around 100 million active monthly players worldwide presently, and over 1 billion downloads.

Your goal in Clash of Clans is to build up your village while also attacking other players’ villages and armies. You must defend yourself against attackers, who can destroy everything you’ve built if they attack. If you’re successful at defending against attacks and are successful in building up your town over time, then you will be able to upgrade and get more powerful buildings that allow you even greater protective measures against attacks (such as upgraded walls).

Pokemon Go

In 2016, Pokemon Go was released to the public. It is a location-based augmented reality game that uses your phone’s GPS and camera to track your movements through real-world spaces. The game allows players to collect digital Pokémon characters called “pocket monsters” as they walk around their neighborhoods or cities, which appear on-screen in real time as you explore.

Pokemon Go has been downloaded over 1 billion times and has earned over US$6 billion over its lifetime.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is a physics-based puzzle video game developed by Rovio Entertainment. It was first released for Apple’s iOS in December 2009 and for Android devices in October 2010. The game has been praised for its successful combination of addictive gameplay, comical style, and low price.

It is one of the most popular mobile games ever released and has sold over 1 billion copies worldwide, and has also been named “the most downloaded app” on both iPhone and iPad devices by Apple Inc.(Apple) at their WWDC keynote address back in June 2018.

Temple Run

Temple Run is a mobile game developed by Imangi Studios and released in 2011. It has been downloaded more than 1 billion times, making it one of the highest-grossing games ever made.

The game has you playing as an unnamed protagonist who must escape from a temple while being chased by some sort of flying monkey fantasy-creatures (which are not always visible in the player’s field of view). As you run continuously on top of what look like temple-parapets, amidst other scenery that enhances the temple-setting, your goal is to collect coins and gems while avoiding obstacles and falling into pits, etc.  This game is like an obstacle game and one of the first to become popular and iconic in the now well-known endless runner genre, among mobile games.

Minecraft

Minecraft, which has sold more than 200 million copies and been installed on almost every device with a screen, is a sandbox video game where players can build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Players are able to modify the terrain by digging down into it, and by placing blocks or using tools, etc. They can even use tools like swords to defeat enemies, and are also able to fly through the air and swim in water, etc. And then, there are many items and rewards players can obtain / earn while playing in various ways, some of which become valuable resources players can use while further playing the game more and more.

The game was created by Swedish game designer Markus Persson in 2009 after he came up with a unique thought process for programming his own game idea: “I wanted something that was not just about killing monsters,” he told Wired Magazine later that year when talking about how he came up with Minecraft’s design process.

Conclusion

Games have changed the world, and have always been and will always be an integral part of it. They have been around for generations, and will continue to be around for generations to come. So games are indeed here to stay. And finally, one thing is and will always remain true: there is no reason why we should not embrace them.
